Right below that are the two RAM slots with their corrosion prone connectors.

That row contains part of the sleep circuitry and other power related features, which includes the regulators for the CPU. Most liquid damage is visible on that bottom row. Basically, those keys provide a direct path to the board, so beware. The openings on the bottom row also extend from the "C" though "M".

That area is right over the CPU and northbridge. The Macbooks' intake for cooling (don't know about the Pros) is right through the key openings on the left side, starting from the top number keys 1-4 down to the bottom keys "Z" though "C". I have no doubt those skins work well, but would be curious about the temperature of the laptop when using these. I've had two people try to spill water in my iBook G4, and it saved it both times. Brand loyalty and the amount of $$ I've put into Apple products makes me feel ok with doing something like this. If I'm paying 2K+ for a computer, and I accidentally do something to it, sure I'll try and get it fixed under warranty. Something like liquid damage, on the other hand, I totally don't feel bad for. I.kind of agree with you, but I'm not getting off your lawn :-) I would say it's one thing if I'm hardware modding my computer and something goes wrong, I wouldn't expect/ask the company to fix it it was my choice and I knew the risk. There's this thing called umble grumble.damn kids get off my lawn. Not to be all holier than thou, but trying to have Apple pay for a repair that they are not obligated to is essentially stealing money from them. So, should I bother calling Apple, or are they just going to tell me I should just buy a new laptop? I think you should definitely try. It's still covered under the Applecare warranty I purchased when I got the laptop, so while I doubt they'll just fix it for free, does anyone have any idea how much the repair is going to run me? Another thing to consider is that there is minor physical damage to the case near the track pad, but that happened a few months ago and didn't affect the operation of the laptop at all. Basically what I'm saying is, give it a try.water doesn't smell like wine :-) Not only did they fix everything, they managed to move ALL of his data over to the new system. He called up Apple, said he was having "trouble" with his laptop, and set up the repair. Right after I got out of college on of my friends accidentally poured a glass of wine into his Powerbook.so much so that when he picked it up wine was clearly leaking out of it.

They are making real effort in my experience to keep folks happy. It never hurts to take it in and dump the trouble on them. I discovered that 3 yo's wielding screwdrivers weren't covered under warranty either. So, should I bother calling Apple, or are they just going to tell me I should just buy a new laptop? I carefully took the machine apart to let it dry out, and after letting it dry for a couple days and putting it back together, it doesn't work at all. The machine does not turn on, the green light on the magsafe adapter does not light up, and the battery life indicators on the battery itself don't seem to function at all.

My Macbook Pro suffered an unfortunately large amount of liquid damage from a big cup of water directly into the keyboard.
